My interest lies in understanding the photographic image as an object. I work with still and moving pictures and change them with a personal play of chance and control. My admiration for the photographic process leads this work to a wide array of representation with emphasis on the drawn and sculptural limits an image can take.

REBATE
Eight 4’ by 10” black ABS planks
etched with a 35 mm roll of Ilford FP4 film.
The rebate is eight black planks depicting only the embossed frame of a 36 exposure roll of film. Each image in this series was shot, printed, scanned, vectorized, cut in vinyl, and sandblasted onto each plank. Every stage legitimized the practice of image making, and understanding it as a physical act. This project was inspired by a need to define the basis for the photographic image, and how that image is represented. It is titled 'Rebate' to acknowledge the frame in photography, and how it has become a standard to define authenticity for the photographer.
